The music is what matters most...

On this page I'll list the band's CDs, 7-inches, bootlegs, sampler appearances, and anything else I know about. I'll include a picture of the CD jacket (if I have one), a track list, and my own comments. I'll also include a sample sound file, if I can get my hands on one.

animal-house.jpg

Animal House
RCA 1987

Track List:
Animal House, Go back to hell, They want war, Black Widow, In the darkness, Lay down the law, We want it loud, Hot tonite (CD Only), Warrior, Coming Home, Run for cover

Comments:

First U.D.O. release written entirley by Accept. Video for The song "They want war" was made to promote the album. All in all a good album with some real strong songs such as the title track and lay down the law. In the darkness in my opinion is maybe the best Udo ballads to date.

Band members:

Udo Dirkschneider Vocals
Mathias Dieth Guitar
Peter Szigeti Guitar
Frank Rittel Bass
Thomas Franke Drums

Interesting facts: U.D.O. toured with Guns and Roses to support the album.

meanmachine.jpg

MEAN MACHINE
RCA 1989

Track List:
Don't look back, Break the rules, We're History, Painted love, Mean machine, Dirty Boy's, Streets on fire, Lost passion, Sweet little child, Catch my fall, Still in love with you

Comments:

This is the first album actually written by U.D.O. without Accept. Although I really liked this album when it came out, over the years I think alot less of it. The production is not nearly as good under producer Mark Dodson as U.D.O.'s later albums produced by ex Accept drummer Stefan Kaufmann(Who is now one of the bands current guitar players). Strong songs are Lost Passion and Dirty Boy's. A video was made for the song Break the rules.

Band Members:

Udo Dirkschneider Vocals
Mathias Dieth Guitar
Andy Susemihl Guitar
Thomas Smuszynski Bass
Stefan Schwarzmann Drums

Interesting Facts:

U.D.O. toured with Ozzy Osbourne to support this album. Udo has said in a interview I read that this may be his least favorite release in his opinion if i remember correctly.

faceless-world.jpg

Faceless World
RCA 1990

Track List:

Heart of gold, Blitz of lightning, Faceless World, Stranger, Restricted area, Living on a frontline, Trip to nowhere, Born to run, Can't get enough, Unspoken words, Future land

Comments:

I always wondered what would have become of this album if it was released instead of Mean Machine a year earlier? This album in my opinion is much, much better the Mean Machine. In fact, this album appealed to all of my friends even if they were not crazy about Udo's voice. Very good production, outstanding guitar work by Mathias Dieth. Strong songs are all of them except Can't get enough. A video was made for the song Heart of gold.

Band Members:

Udo Dirkschneider vocals
Mathias Dieth Guitar
Wolla Boehm Guitar
Thomas Smuszynski Bass
Stefan Schwarzmann Drums

Interesting Facts:

I have been told this is the most sold U.D.O. album thus far. I also heard that that was changed to Holy which would be released in 1999. Anyone who knows for sure let me know! Also the Faceless world tour was cut short because Udo had a body breakdown from over working himself.

timebomb.jpg

Timebomb
RCA 1991

Track list:

The Gutter, Metaleater, Thunderforce, Overloaded (Instrumental), Burning heat, Back in pain, Timebomb, Powersquad, Kick in the face, Soldier of darkness, Metal maniac mastermind

Comments:

What a differance a year makes! Very heavy and aggressive album, much more so then the melodic Faceless World album. I like alot of songs on this album, but in my opinion you have to be a huge fan of Udo's voice if you stand a chance to sit through this album (which I am). Best songs are Kick in the face, and Metal maniac mastermind. No video's for this album that I know of.

Band members:

Udo Dirkschneider vocals
Mathias Dieth Guitar
Thomas Smuszynski Bass
Stefan Schwarzmann drums

Interesting facts:

U.D.O. was dropped by RCA after this release. According to Stefan Schwarzmann this was the only album he did with U.D.O. that he actually played the drums in the studio!?!? All the other U.D.O. drums going forward were done by computer!! Accept decided to reform in 1992 and released three albums, Objection Overruled in 1993 , Death Row in 1994 , and Predetor in 1996. Thus U.D.O. was put on ice until 1997.................

solid.jpg

Solid
Gun 1997

Track List:

Independance Day, Two faced woman, Desperate balls, The punisher, Devil's dice, Bad luck, Preachers of the night, hate stinger, Braindead hero, Pray for the hunted, The healer

Comments:

Wow, Udo is back after a short run with Accept. New band members and Stefan Kaufmann on Guitar!! This album has The power of the best Accept albums with some interesting twists such as Braindead hero. The nice thing about SOLID is that alot of the songs are like no other Udo songs done before. After I listned to this album the first time I was glad Accept was over because this is the way Udo needs to sing! Best songs are Braindead hero, Hate stinger, and The healer. A video for Independance day was released.

Band Members

Udo Dirkschneider vocals
Stefan Kaufmann Guitar
Jürgen Graf Guitar
Fitty Wienhold Bass
Stefan Schwarzmann Drums

Interesting facts:

This album was recorded at ROXX studios which is owned by Stefan Kaufmann

no-limits.jpg

No Limits
GUN 1998

Track List:

The gate (instrumental)Freelance man, Way of life, No limits, With A Vengeance, One step to fate, Backstreet loner, Raise the crown, Manhunt, Rated X, Lovemachine, I'M a rebel, Azreal

Comments:

I like this album alot. I would say more melodic the Solid, but still raw power. Freelance man is a fast heavy song, yet it is easy to sing along to at the top of your lungs! Backsteet Loner is a cool song. Actually, I find myself singing along to most of the songs. Azreal is a great closing song on the album. Honestly, I find myself choosing this album over the others as I flip thru my car cd case. I read somewhere Udo thinks this album was overproduced, but I love it the way it is!!! (See Mission x review for more info) No videos for this album that I am aware of.

Band Members

Udo Dirkschneider vocals
Stefan Kaufmann Guitar
Jürgen Graf Guitar
Fitty Wienhold Bass
Stefan Schwarzmann Drums

Interesting facts:

Jürgen Graf was forced out of the band because of his abuse of certain substances according to a interview I read with Udo. Stefan Swwarzmann left the band after the tour because he was tired of not being allowed to play the drums for the studio recording of the albums. U.D.O. was using a computer to make the drum sounds.

holy.gif

Holy

AFM 1999

Track List:

Holy, Raiders of beyond, Shout it out, Thunder in the tower, Back off, Friends will be friends, State run operation, Danger, Ride the storm, Cut me out

Comments:

Title track is one of the best U.D.O. songs. State Run Operation is awesome. This album to me is like Mean Machine as at first I really liked this album, but as time goes on I really do not listen to it as much. Maybe it's because I have the Live dvd so I heard the songs too much. Shout it out is just a awfull song. I can barely listen to it. The guitar work on the album in general is very good. Back Off is also not one of the albums shining points.

Band Members:

Udo Dirkschneider vocals
Stefan Kaufmann Guitar
Igor Gianola Guitar
Fitty Wienhold Bass
Guess Who Drums

This was the first of the post "Solid" albums that got much attention in the United States. Crowd turnout was low except when I saw them In New York City. Nice wild crowd for that show! You could always find Fitty selling shirts before the concert started!!!

man_machine_cover_small.jpg

Man and machine
AFM 2002

Track list:

Man And Machine, Privite Eye, Animal Instinct, Dawn Of the Gods, Dancing With A Angel, Silent Cry, Network Nightmare, Hard To Be Honest, Like A Lion, Black Heart, Unknown Traveler

Wow, alot to say about this album. Most songs are very good. Great vocals. Strong songs for me are Like A Lion, Unknown Traveler, and Silent Cry. I got to be honest with this one. Udo ruins Dancing With A Angel. Could he not tone it down a bit??....lol. Somebody should have pulled him aside and said TAKE #2 lol. Doro sounded great though.

Band Members:

Udo Dirkschneider vocals
Stefan Kaufmann Guitar
Igor Gianola Guitar
Fitty Wienhold Bass
Lorenzo Milani Drums

Interesting Facts:

Udo did a video for Dancing With A Angel but it was done during The Thundervision mini DVD released a year later.

thunderball.jpg

Thunderball
AFM 2004

Track List:

Thunderball, The Arbitor, Pull The Trigger, Fistfull Of Anger, Land of The Midnight Sun, Hell Bites Back, Trainride In Russia, The Bullet And The Bomb. Magic Mirror, Tough Luck 2, Blind Eyes

Comments:

I really, really love this album. The band gels so well. Buy it, thats all I got to say. Just skip over Hell Bites Back and all will be wonderfull ;)

Interesting Facts:

The Band Did a mini dvd called Thundervision. Thundervision has the video clips for Thunderball, The arbitor, Dancing with a angel (From Man and machine) and Trainride in russia. Also The Blind Eyes Video is on VCD format on the special addition Thunderball cd. Shame cause I think the video would be great in dvd quality. Also on thundervision is two bonus tracks Free and rebellion, and Run! Both of these songs kick butt. Run! is just awesome.

Well I finally got my copy of 24/7. This is a hard review. There are 5 songs on this EP 24/7, Mean Streets, Number For A Number, Scream Killers, and Hardcore Lover. 24/7 is a good song that is easy to sing along too. Udo really puts out a great performance on this song as he sings with such power. But, the song in general to me sounds alot like the last two U.D.O. albums. What is wrong about that you ask? One of the nice things with Accept and U.D.O. in the past is that I could tell one album style from the next. Such as Faceless World, and Timebomb, Predator to Death Row ect. I remember how surprised I was to hear Timebomb for the first time. It was so much heavier then Faceless World. Anyhow what I am trying to say is that it kept the music FRESH. Now it seems that the band wants to have the same sound over, and over again. I hope the new cd Mission X will be a change from this EP. Mean Streets is a cool song, and as it seems by other reviews I have seen on Udo-Online I am one of the few that actually like this song. It's a change from the norm so I like it. Number for a Number is ok, nothing great. scream killers is also just ok, and Hardcore lover I have on the dvd, so why include this song again? All in all this EP does nothing to excite me to get Mission X. In fact, it has me wondering if this may be the end of U.D.O. . That is unless the Mission X blows us fans away!

MISSION no X
2005 AFM Records

TRACK LIST
The Embarkation, 24-7 ,Mean Streets, Primecrime On Primetime, Eye Of The Eagle, Shell Shock Feaver, Stone Hard, Breaking Down The Borders, Cry sodier Cry, Way Of Life, Mad For Crazy

Finally got the entire cd. This is going to be a strange review for several reasons. First off, at first listen I really was disapointed at the quality of the songs. I could not help to think that this was a rushed album with very little new to offer. Way Of Life was a remake of Way Of Life from the No Limits album. Apparently, Udo thinks that no limits was overproduced, so he made this song again. Bad Idea! Song is horrible on Mission X, and Fantastic on No limits. Kinda like how Geogre Lucus ruined Star Wars by adding all that extra crap! (NOTE TO UDO AND CO, YOU NEW MATERIAL IS NOT AS GOOD SO DO NOT RUIN THE OLD GOOD STUFF) In general, if you listen carefull you can hear alot of sounds taken from other Accept / U.D.O. albums on the Mission X CD. Needless to say, for the fist time in my life I was just not excited at all to hear a new U.D.O. album. Now I have it, and I am beginning to enjoy it a bit more. Not that I am as happy as with the classics. I am not sure if it is simply because it's new, so I want to listen and sing along? I really like Primecrime On Primetime, and Cry, Soldier,Cry. The latter of which is one of the best songs I have heard EVER! However it could have been tremendous had the used the pipes thru the entire song! All in all as of today 10/8/05 I will give Mission X a half decent rating. Only time will tell if this is a cd I play alot, Or hardly at all.
